Leaders for Readers

A shared reading program that connects high school teens with struggling readers in primary grades. The teens are trained to use effective techniques and great literature in a series of one hour sessions, to inspire their young friends while earning volunteer hours necessary for graduation.

Leaders for Reads runs on Saturdays in blocks of 10 week sessions at The Story Garden from 11am – 12pm. Reader registration fee is $25.

ARE YOU A STUDENT LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEER HOURS?

We are looking for teens to be part of our Leaders for Readers program. Time commitment is 2 hr/wk for 10 wks to read with primary students.

Sessions run regularly at The Story Garden in the Sheridan Centre, Mississauga. Please send a cover letter and resume to dreanna@thestorygarden.ca to apply.

This is a fun, easy, and rewarding way to earn 20 + hours towards your volunteer requirement for graduation.
