A shared reading program that connects high school teens with struggling readers in primary grades. The teens are trained to use effective techniques and great literature in a series of one hour sessions, to inspire their young friends while earning volunteer hours necessary for graduation.

Leaders for Reads runs on Saturdays in blocks of 10 week sessions at The Story Garden from 11am – 12pm. Reader registration fee is $30.

  • Current Session: April 7 - June 9, 2018

ARE YOU A high school STUDENT LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEER HOURS?

We are looking for teens to be part of our Leaders for Readers program. Time commitment is 2 hr/wk for 11 wks to read with primary students. (Leaders start one week before the Readers for training.)

Sessions run regularly at The Story Garden in the Sheridan Centre, Mississauga. Please send a cover letter and resume to jane@thestorygarden.ca to apply.

This is a fun, easy, and rewarding way to earn 20 + hours towards your volunteer requirement for graduation.
